The FITMAN Verification and Validation (V&V) Methodology aims at verifying, validating and evaluating a software product from its conception to final release and implementation in real-life, trial settings. In general, Verification ensures that the product is being built according to the requirements and design specifications while Validation makes certain that the product actually meets the user’s needs, the specifications were correct in the first place and the product fulfils its intended use when placed in its intended environment.
The FITMAN V&V method provides a general and extendable framework which addresses the FITMAN needs, but is also reusable beyond FITMAN as it is up to each manufacturing trial and development team to streamline the method according to their own needs and requirements taking into account the guidelines provided. In more detail, the FITMAN V&V method defines, step-by-step, the scope of the activities that need to be performed, the potential alternative techniques to be applied, the stakeholders to be engaged, and the potential crowd engagement methods to be adopted.
